Gutters for Cobb County’s newest city, from ranches to riverside lots

Mableton is an old south Cobb community and one of Cobb County’s newest cities. Robert Mable, a Scottish immigrant, bought 300 acres here in 1843, and his house still stands near Floyd Road. The town incorporated in 1912, gave up its charter in 1916, and became a city again after voters approved cityhood in November 2022, with its first council and mayor elected in 2023. Today it runs from Nickajack Creek near the Smyrna line down to the Chattahoochee River on its southeast edge, with Six Flags Over Georgia and the Silver Comet Trail inside the community. Streets range from older brick ranches with long, low eaves to newer townhome rows and two-story subdivisions, much of it under pines and hardwoods on rolling red clay.
