Metro Atlanta has a little of everything on its rooflines: big estate roofs in Buckhead and Sandy Springs, 1920s bungalows in Virginia-Highland, Inman Park and Grant Park, 1960s ranches out west, and newer two-story builds in Smyrna and Marietta. Plenty of them sit on hilly lots. Each one sheds water differently, so we start every gutter job with the roof itself: how big it is, how steep it is, and where the water needs to land.
From there it comes down to four decisions: seamless gutters formed on site, the right gutter size, a style that suits the house, and a material that fits your budget and your street. A Solutionist walks you through each one before anything gets ordered.
Rain gutters for metro Atlanta homes
The choices that make up a new gutter system, and where to read more
Construction, size, style, metal and protection. Here is how each choice plays out on metro Atlanta homes, with a link to the page that covers it in full.
Every gutter we install is seamless: formed on our truck from a coil of metal and cut to the length of that stretch of roofline. That decision is made before you ever meet us. The rest get made at your house, with a Solutionist standing in the driveway looking at your roof: how big the trough should be, which profile suits the architecture, which metal fits your budget and your street, and whether a guard goes on top.
Those choices affect each other. A half-round copper gutter on a Buckhead estate is a different job from a 6 inch K-style aluminum run on a two-story build in Marietta. A house on a steep lot may steer the downspout plan because of where the runoff heads, and a stand of oaks and pines over the back of the roof can decide the guard before anything else.

Typical combinations on metro Atlanta homes
- 1960s ranch in Mableton, Austell or Douglasville: 5 inch K-style seamless aluminum in a color matched to the trim.
- Newer two-story build in Smyrna, Marietta or Kennesaw: K-style, stepped up to 6 inch where the lower roof takes water from the upper one.
- 1920s bungalow in Virginia-Highland, Inman Park or Grant Park: half-round, often in copper that weathers to a patina.
- Buckhead estate with big roof planes: 6 or 7 inch K-style.
- Apartment building or HOA with long, low-slope roofs: sized for capacity, up to 7 inch through our commercial gutter service.
Why there is no plastic on our trucks
Vinyl gutters cannot be roll-formed, so they only come in short sections joined together, and every joint is a leak waiting for the next summer thunderstorm. Plastic also softens and sags through a hot Georgia summer. Metal gutters can be formed in one piece per run, and they hold their shape on the house through the hottest months. That is why every option on this page is metal.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Buckhead & West Atlanta forms seamless gutters on site in 5, 6 and 7 inch sizes, in K-style and half-round, using colored aluminum, copper, galvanized steel or Galvalume. BroGuard fine metal mesh guards can be added on top. Each run is cut on the truck to the measured length of that stretch of roofline, so nothing is pieced together from stock lengths.
Size follows the roof: its square footage, its pitch and how many roof planes drain to one run. Style is mostly about the look, with K-style on the majority of homes and half-round where the gutter is meant to be seen. Material comes down to budget, lifespan and appearance. Your Solutionist covers all three on site and writes the answer into your estimate.
Atlanta averages about 50.4 inches of rain a year (NOAA), with the wettest stretches in winter and summer, when thunderstorms dump a lot of water in a short time. On a hilly lot, an undersized or clogged gutter sends that water down the slope, under the porch and against the foundation, and washes red clay across the drive.
Mostly what grows here: oak leaves, pine straw and sweetgum balls, plus the spring pine and oak pollen that coats everything and turns to sludge in the trough. Red clay grit washes in too. On homes under big trees, BroGuard keeps most of that out of the system.
Length of the runs, gutter size, profile and material drive most of it, plus the number of downspouts and whether you add guards. Half-round and premium metals like copper cost more than standard K-style aluminum. Your free written estimate lists each piece so you can see where the money goes.
Much more than the roof edge. Gutters keep water off fascia, siding, door and window frames, garage doors, decks, walkways, driveways, landscaping and the foundation. On a sloped Atlanta lot, the first sign of trouble is usually red clay washed across the walk or a wet crawl space.
