Gutter Styles in Buckhead and West Atlanta, GA: The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Buckhead and West Atlanta installs K-style and half-round seamless gutters matched to the house: K-style for the clean lines of ranches and newer two-story builds, half-round where the gutter is part of the look, like a 1920s bungalow in Inman Park or Grant Park. A gutter runs the full length of the house, so its shape shows. K-style, with its flat back and decorative front, is the profile on most metro Atlanta homes because it is strong and carries a lot of water. Half-round is the rounded trough you see on older and more traditional homes, chosen mainly for appearance.
The 1920s bungalows of Virginia-Highland, Inman Park and Grant Park are where half-round, often in copper, earns its place. On a 1960s ranch in Smyrna or a newer two-story in Marietta, a K-style run in a color matched to the trim usually looks best. Ask your Solutionist which half-round options are available for your home.
Gutter styles in metro Atlanta
Half-round or K-style, and the parts that finish an Atlanta system
The profile sets the look. The hangers, downspouts and fittings decide how it holds up. Here is how each piece fits the homes we work on across Buckhead, West Atlanta and the metro.
Most of the K-style we hang goes on 1960s ranches from Mableton to Austell and on the newer two-story builds of Smyrna, Marietta and Kennesaw. Its flat back sits tight against the fascia, and the shaped front adds stiffness along a long eave while holding plenty of water. On a big Buckhead roof, that capacity matters in a summer storm.
Half-round is about character. On a 1920s bungalow in Virginia-Highland or Grant Park, the rounded trough echoes the house’s era, and paired with round downspouts it becomes part of the architecture. It hangs differently, too, which affects how it is installed and serviced.
You can get either profile in 5 or 6 inch, and either one can be made as a radius gutter that follows a curved wall, so picking a style never costs you capacity or shape.
Comparing K-style and half-round
| Question | K-style | Half-round |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Flat back, K-shaped face | A rounded trough |
| How it hangs | Quick Screw hidden hanger, angled through the back into the Atlanta fascia | Combination hanger attached to the fascia, with a spring clip across the front lip |
| Usual downspouts | Rectangular: 2×3 inch with 5 inch gutters, 3×4 inch with 6 inch | Round, 3 or 4 inch, smooth or corrugated (smooth only in copper) |
| Why people choose it | Strength and high capacity | Appearance, which makes it a specialty style in Atlanta |
| Best fit here | Ranches, two-story builds and estates, plus commercial buildings | 1920s bungalows and older homes, often in copper |
The small fittings hardly anyone notices
- Where the fascia leans or trim molding is in the way, gutter wedges fill the gap so the run hangs straight.
- On eaves without any fascia board, roof straps hook to the hanger and attach to the roof.
- End caps get crimped in place and sealed so no water escapes from the open end of a run.
- Elbows route every downspout from the trough in to the wall, then kick the flow outward at ground level so it never pools at the foundation.
- Conductor heads in copper or aluminum dress up the top of a downspout and catch surge water where a large roof area drains to one spot.
Older Atlanta homes: what turns up behind the old gutters
If your gutters are more than about 10 years old, look at the front lip. A row of nail heads means a nail and ferrule system: a long nail driven through the front of the gutter, through a ferrule sleeve and the back, and into the fascia. It was the standard method 20 years ago, and it is the reason so many older metro Atlanta gutters sag. As the wood expands and contracts, the nails back out until the run lets go. We replace them with hidden hangers and check the board behind them, replacing soft wood through our fascia board service. That replacement is also the right time to change profile, whether that means half-round copper gutters on a Craftsman or K-style seamless gutters in a trim-matched colored aluminum. Our gutter sizes guide covers how big each run should be.

Why the Brothers
Why Atlanta Homeowners Call the Brothers
We look at the architecture before we talk profiles. An Inman Park bungalow and a Marietta two-story should not wear the same gutter.
Hidden hangers and corners sealed three ways keep a handsome gutter doing its job for years.
We will say so when plain K-style aluminum is the wise pick, even if half-round copper photographs beautifully.
Founded in 1999 by brothers Ken and Ryan Parsons, locally owned here in Lithia Springs, and focused only on gutters.

Posted on Google“I highly recommend Brothers Gutters. The process is straight forward; quote, schedule, install. I was wait listed for a sooner installation and got it. I discovered a small omission after the fact and a crew stopped by the next day to take care of it. Very accommodating! I’m a happy customer.”

K-style has a flat back with a K-shaped front, and you see it on most homes and commercial buildings since it is sturdy and carries plenty of water. Half-round is a curved trough chosen mainly for its looks, which is why it is considered a specialty style. Each comes in 5 and 6 inch.
Half-round, often in copper, suits the 1920s bungalows of Virginia-Highland, Inman Park and Grant Park, where the gutter is meant to be noticed. A 1960s ranch in Smyrna or a newer two-story in Marietta usually looks cleanest with K-style matched to the trim. We can show both against your actual roofline.
Yes. Both K-style and half-round can be made as a radius gutter that curves to follow a rounded section of the house. That way water is handled all along the curve, with no gap in the system. Bring it up during your free estimate.
We use the Quick Screw hidden hanger. Its screw comes pre-started, a sleeve around it adds strength, and a gentle arch along the underside stiffens it. It goes in at an angle through the gutter’s back into the fascia. Old spike and ferrule gutters loosen as the wood swells and shrinks through Atlanta’s humid summers, and bargain hidden hangers cut a gutter’s life short.
Corners leak often, so we seal each one at three points: down the manufacturer’s center seam, on the inner face where each run overlaps it, and along the top seam. For bay windows and angled walls we use a bay miter so the runs come together neatly.
For drainage, no. Both handle water and debris about the same, so it comes down to looks. Round corrugated downspouts are strong and pair well with copper half-round on a 1920s bungalow in Virginia-Highland or Grant Park, while smooth round downspouts come only in copper and dent more easily.
