Quick answer
Gutter Repair in Atlanta, GA: The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Buckhead and West Atlanta fixes gutters that drip at the joints, sag or separate, hang from loose hardware, or have bent and disconnected downspouts, plus the fascia they are fastened to, for homes from Buckhead and Sandy Springs to Smyrna, Marietta and Douglasville. When a repair will not hold, we say so and quote a replacement section instead. Most repairs are done in one visit. Call (770) 213-1621 or book online.
Gutters have one job: carry roof water off the house and away from it. When they leak, sag or overflow, that water lands on the fascia, the walls and the foundation instead. In metro Atlanta the damage can hide under a canopy of oaks and pines for months, and then a summer thunderstorm or a week of winter rain shows you every weak joint at once.
Many 1920s bungalows here still carry gutters that went up long ago. Sometimes a cleaning or a few new hangers is all it takes. Sometimes the honest answer is new seamless gutters, and we will tell you which.
Gutter repair in metro Atlanta
The quiet signs of a failing gutter, and what each repair involves
Most gutter damage here builds up through the long winter rains and shows itself in the first summer thunderstorm. These are the clues you can spot today, and what we do about each one.
About 50 inches of rain a year lands on Atlanta, so a bad gutter gets tested often. But most of that water falls when nobody is outside watching. So the evidence you can find now is whatever the last storm left behind: on the ground, on the walls and on the wood below the roofline.
Walk the house on a dry day and look down before you look up. A straight line worn into the red clay under the eave, paint peeling near the base of a wall, or a garage door with a swollen bottom edge each marks a spot where water left the gutter early. On the bungalows in Virginia-Highland, Inman Park and Grant Park and older ranches across the metro, those marks often line up with a joint, a corner or a run that has dropped out of pitch.
Subtle signs worth a closer look
- A line or shallow trench worn into the red clay, mulch or pine straw right under the eave.
- Paint flaking or peeling early near the bottom of the walls.
- Mildew, red clay splash or dark staining on brick or siding below a gutter.
- Swollen or rotting garage doors, door frames, windowsills or deck boards under the roofline.
- Cracked or lifted walkways, patio slabs, driveways or steps near a downspout.
- Nail heads backing out of the face of the gutter.
- A dip or a backward slope you can see when you sight down the run.
Common repairs and what they involve
| Problem | What we do | When repair stops making sense |
|---|---|---|
| A seam, corner or end cap that drips | Clean the joint and reseal it, or replace the end cap or corner piece | When a sectional gutter leaks at joint after joint |
| A run that sags or pulls off the house | Re-pitch it and rehang it on new hidden hangers into solid wood | When the trough itself is bent or kinked along its length |
| Spikes working loose | Swap the spikes for screwed-in hidden hangers | When the system is near the end of its life and leaking elsewhere too |
| A downspout knocked loose or crushed | Reattach it and replace the damaged section and elbows | Rarely, this is almost always a repair |
| Hangers that will not hold | Check the board, then replace or wrap it through our fascia board service before rehanging | When the fascia is rotted along most of the run, board and gutter often come down together |
| Water pooling at the foundation | Check the outlets, then extend the downspouts or take them underground | Not a replacement issue, unless the gutter above is overflowing |
Repair or replace: how to tell
- Count the failures. One bad corner is a repair. Leaks at several joints on a sectional system usually mean a seamless gutter is the cheaper long-term answer.
- Check the age signs.Spike and ferrule fastening, heavy color fade on the outside of the gutter and seams along the length of each run all point to an older system.
- Look at the wood.If the fascia is sound, a run can be rehung and keep working. If it is not, the gutter is coming down anyway, and that is usually the moment for a new gutter installation.
On hilly lots from Buckhead to Vinings, heavy runoff adds one more question: whether a run carrying that much water has worked the hardware loose along the rest of its length too. We check the whole run, not just the spot that let go.

Overflow away from the downspout usually means a repair issue rather than a clog. The run may be pitched the wrong way, too small for the roof above it, short a downspout, or sagging off the fascia. When water spills right beside the downspout, a blockage is the more likely cause, and a cleaning usually fixes it.
Yes. We reseal leaking joints, corners and end caps. If a sectional gutter leaks at joint after joint, patching turns into a yearly chore, and switching to seamless runs formed on site ends it, because no joints are left in the middle of the run to fail.
That is spike and ferrule: a long spike driven through the face of the gutter, through a sleeve, and into the board behind it. It usually means the system is around 20 years old, and on older homes around Virginia-Highland, Inman Park and Grant Park it is one of the first things a Solutionist checks. Nail heads backing out are a sign the gutter is pulling loose and the wood behind it may be rotting.
They can. On sloped lots from Buckhead and Sandy Springs to Vinings and Smyrna, a big roof sends a lot of water to a few downspouts, and red clay grit settles in the trough. A run under that load may need new hardware or another downspout, not a tightened screw. We look at the whole run, not just the spot that failed.
A well-installed system that is cleaned regularly or protected by guards should last up to 30 years. Gutters left on their own usually fail somewhere between 10 and 15 years. The Atlanta mix of soaking winter rains, short heavy summer storms, oak leaves, pine straw and red clay grit is hard on a neglected system.
Yes. Through the wet winter months and summer thunderstorm season, overflow calls and runs pulling off the house move to the front of the line. The smarter play is fixing loose hangers and leaky joints in early fall, before the winter rains settle in. If water is already going somewhere it should not, call (770) 213-1621.

Why the Brothers
Why Buckhead and West Atlanta Homeowners Call the Brothers
Our Solutionists are not salespeople. If new hangers solve the problem, that is the estimate you get.
The people fixing your gutter also hang new systems, so they know how a run should be pitched and fastened.
Big roofs on Buckhead estates and heavy runoff on hilly lots wear gutters differently than a bungalow under the oaks. Each repair accounts for what your spot throws at the system.
Matthew Prewett owns this franchise, and the crews work out of Thornton Road in Lithia Springs. The BBB rates us A+.
